About Me

My name is Benjamin, or Ben, Owen. I live in the United States, North Carolina to be specific. I’m 35 years old. My wife and I just celebrated our 15th anniversary. I’ve been working in the IT field for the past 10 years. My specialty is in Networks and Network Security, but I also like to tinker with automation and programming.

I am a hard-working and detail-oriented individual that enjoys investigating and being presented with new challenges. I learn better when being on-the-go and having to adapt to new circumstances, product changes, or technology.

I am very passionate about learning and troubleshooting. I firmly believe in knowledge being shared openly and made accessible to anyone and everyone who wants to learn. I learn best by doing, which mostly means I’ve broken it horribly and have to claw my way back out of the disaster I made.

I love learning through self-hosting and I am very biased towards open-source software and open-source solutions where possible. This allows for me to learn at my own pace and scale while getting the basics and concepts that translate into my work.

I’m also an avid gamer, primarily enjoying sandbox survival games like Minecraft, Subnautica, and Valheim but I never shy away from a good MMO like Everquest 2, New World, and Elder Scrolls Online. I’m currently playing Destiny 2, Diablo 4, and Satisfactory, and loving all three!
